How important are mangroves? 🌳

Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting our coastlines from erosion and storm surges, providing habitats for fish and other marine life, and supporting our ecosystems. They also act as natural carbon sinks, helping to fight climate change by absorbing CO2. 🍃🌍

It's heartbreaking to see these vital mangroves destroyed and abused over time. These photos were taken from one of the communities near SPSF, highlighting the need for conservation efforts. We hope to rehabilitate this area in the future to restore its ecological balance and ensure a sustainable environment for generations to come. Let's not destroy the homes of other organisms just to fix ours. 🌱

Celebrating World Oceans Month by saving the coral

Celebrating World Oceans Month by saving the corals! 🌊💪

Day 2 of our SustainabiliSEA event was a deep dive into marine conservation! The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist - Fisheries Division led an inspiring session on marine conservation, mangrove planting, and basics of coral propagation. 🌱🐟

We then rolled up our slacks for a hands-on coral restoration activity, using the 'branching' method and having our amazing divers place the platforms in our area. We're looking forward to seeing how these corals grow and thrive, contributing to the health of our marine ecosystems. 💙🍃🐬

SPSF finally welcomes the Tourism Promotions Board

SPSF finally welcomes the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) to Palawan for our SustainabiliSEA event! The highlight of our Day 1 was handing over the solar street lights to our communities and it was a wave of emotions. 🌊😁

We followed up with fun games, a delicious feast, and gifted teachers and students from our partner schools with school supplies. Plus, we had an exciting raffle with the community! 🙌💃📚

The rain turned out to be a blessing, and we powered through successfully. Later that night, seeing the bright glow of the new solar street lights was the perfect end to an amazing day. 🎉💡
